After graduation in May ,1958 I left the following day with my friends, Edith & Etta Brinkley, to seek my fortune in Dallas. I soon found employment with Collins Radio, which eventually became Rockwell International, then later I was with Parke Davis Pharmaceuticals. I was not gainfully employed for many years before I helped my husband in our company.
It was through Etta that I met my husband, Pat Maddox, and married in June, 1959. We will celebrate our 50th next year.
In 196l, we formed the company, Maddox Pest Control, that we owned and operated for 33 years until 1994 and sold to Terminix and retired. We moved to the small community of Edom, near Tyler, in 1997, and bought a small farm that we enjoyed until November, 2006, when we sold and moved to Tyler where we now reside.
We have one son, Todd, who is a pilot stationed in Seattle where he and his wife Christine live. "But no grandchildren"
Pat and I enjoy traveling and have had the pleasure of getting to see Europe, Greece, Alaska, Hawaii, & Caribbean Islands. This May we have a trip planned to Norway & Switzerland.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. We really are "too yuoung" to be celebrating 50 years. Even though it is a lifetime for some people, most of the time it only seems like yesterday that we were kids and making our marks at AHS. What a great time it was and I truly feel that we were blessed and so fortunate to have called Ashdown home and got to graduate there. I think we got to experience the best of "Small Town America".
