After graduating high school I enrolled at Texarkana College and worked part time at Krogers.  I joined the Air Force Reserve in 1960 and retired after 26 years.  I married in 1961 and raised two sons, Phillip and Paul.  I went to work at Red River Army Depot in 1963 and retired in 1995.  While many of my graduating class moved away from Ashdown I still live on the same farm on which I was born.

I married Gayle in 1987.  We vacationed in London, England in 1988 and enjoyed traveling so much we decided to buy a motor home.  Since that time we have traveled most of the U.S. by RV.  I enjoy watching my five grandchildren play baseball, soccer, basketball and this year it will include football.

As a hobby, I started dirt racing in 1974.  This has been a family affair since both sons have always been involved in and participated in racing.  After winning 13 championships, I finally put the Mustang to pasture and hung up my racing suit in 2006.
