I married Louise Merrell in September after graduation and we had four daughters, Patricia, Kathy, Cynthia and Donna and now have 13 grandchildren and 25 1/2 great grandchildren. I worked for the Little River News for seven years, moving to the Fort Smith, AR area, working for Wortz Biscuit Co. several months before going to work for The Times Record in Ft. Smith for four years. Became manager and editor of East Oklahoma Tribune in Sallisaw, Oklahoma until a vehicle accident incapacitated me for a year. Louise's and my marriage ended after 12 years. The girls and I moved to Oklahoma City where my second marriage also failed.
We moved to Louisiana where I became night foreman for The Shreveport Times in 1973 until 1979. I met the love of my life, Iza, while playing darts in local pubs in 1979. We married in 1980 and the hobby of darts continued for some 27 years. I worked in the overnight delivery business for some 12 years and retired when it came to an abrupt end. I was self employed for five years before going to work for the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport as a police dispatcher and later transferred to Medical Communications where I worked as a Computer Graphics Designer.
My wife and I both retired from The State of Louisiana December 31, 2004 and moved to Sallisaw, OK where we had purchased a double-wide mobile home on my daughter Patricia and her husband Ricky's property on Robert S. Kerr Lake with permission to live there the rest of our life. We now raise Maltese Dogs and deliver the Fort Smith Times Record newspaper in Sallisaw. Lately I have been working on my shop so I have a place to store my tools and have a place to work on my projects.
